Dave Matthews Band will welcome a variety of special guests during their summer tour, which kicks off May 13 in Austin. A flier for the tour states that “DMB has invited a few of their favorite guests to join them this summer.” The first of which comes in the form of longtime collaborator Bela Fleck, who will join the group July 3 and 4 in Saratoga Springs, NY and August 28 and 29 in Englewood, CO.

Fleck’s history with the band dates all the way back to 1996 when his band The Flecktones opened up for DMB during their New Year’s Eve run along the East Coast, culminating in a NYE show at Hampton Coliseum. DMB and the Flecktones also toured extensively together in 1997 and 1998. As for Fleck, he most recently sat in with the group on 6/28/14 in Burgettstown, PA. The banjo player joined the band on “Don’t Drink the Water” (which he played on during the Before These Crowded Streets sessions) and “Typical Situation,” among others.
