Joe Russo’s Almost Dead headlined the Capitol Theater last night, bringing two sets of Grateful Dead jams to Port Chester, NY. Throughout the show, the ensemble, which includes Joe Russo, Dave Dreiwitz, Marco Benevento, Scott Metzger and Tom Hamilton, was joined by vocalist Nicole Atkins.

Atkins sat in on most tunes performed, including the opening “Dancing in the Streets” which was played for the first time. Atkins also took lead vocals on “Cassidy,” “The Stranger (Two Souls in Communion)” and “The Music Never Stopped.” She also lent some background vocals to tunes like “Dire Wolf,” “Eyes of the World,” “Not Fade Away,” “I Know You Rider,” “One More Saturday Night” and a closing “Ripple.”

Next up for Joe Russo’s Almost Dead is a May 16 gig in Philadelphia at the Theater of the Living Arts.
