Widespread Panic took to the stage in Rome, GA at CounterPoint Music Festival last night and surprised people by debuting a cover of the Grateful Dead’s “Ramble on Rose” in the encore, prior to the closing “Love Tractor.”

Panic previously soundchecked the tune prior to the Dear Jerry show in Columbia, MD, however the song was cut from the actual show due to time constraints. Watch a clip of that soundcheck above. At the show, Panic did take the stage for a rendition of “Morning Dew.”

Additional highlights from Panic’s one set include a sit in from Carter Herring, son of WSP guitarist Jimmy, on “Sell Sell” and “Ride Me High.” The band also mixed in several new songs they’ve been playing including “Steven’s Cat,” “Cease Fire” and “Jamais Vu.”

Next up for Panic is a headlining slot at Summer Camp Music Festival. Meanwhile, Summer Camp co-headliners Umphrey’s McGee will play CounterPoint tonight.
