Vampire Weekend frontman Exra Koenig sat in with Chromeo yesterday at the Governors Ball Music Festival in New York City. The collaboration took place after Chromeo’s Dave Macklovitch started riffing on Vampire Weekend’s “Cape Cod Kwassa Kwassa.” After talking about how much he liked the joy of the song, the group invited Koenig on stage to play the tune with them. Koenig even changed the song’s Peter Gabriel reference to a Chromeo reference and stuck around to help with Chromeo’s own “Bonafide Lovin’.”

Koenig and Chromeo have a bit of history together, as Koenig appears on the band’s b-side “I Could Be Wrong” and co-wrote and appears on “Ezra’s Interlude,” a track from their latest album White Women.

Governors Ball will continue today with performances by Ryan Adams, Lana Del Ray, Future Islands, Moon Taxi and many more.
