Dozens of local Charleston, SC musicians gathered at the Pour House for “Don’t Tell Me This Town Ain’t Got No Heart,” a benefit show for those lost in the June 17 tragedy at the Emanuel AME Church in Charleston. The show benefitted the Mother Emanuel Hope Fund, established by Charleston Mayor Joe Riley.

Over $30,000 was raised through ticket and alcohol sales, cash donations and a live auction featuring over 200 donated items including a Widespread Panic poster that sold for over $4,000. Speaking of Widespread Panic, the band used the live stream of the show as house music at their recent Jones Beach show.

Among the music played was a collaborative “Shine a Light” by the Rolling Stones featuring various members of the ensemble as well as “Live Forever” by Billy Joe Shaver and a new song by the Dead 27s written for the victims.
