Dave Matthews Band returned to the road last night after a short break to kick off a two-night run at Camden’s Susquehanna Bank Center. As previously announced, Warren Haynes would sit in with the group as well as a couple more special guests.

While no guests came out until late in the acoustic set, it was The Lovely Ladies who marked their return first on a performance of one of Matthews’ Some Devil tunes, “Save Me.” After that, the band welcomed out Haynes and trumpet player Matt Cappy for the first full band “Down By the River” since 2007. The Neil Young tune is popular at Dave and Tim shows, although it hasn’t been played in that setting since the duo’s Las Vegas run in 2009.

Haynes and Cappy stayed on for another bustout, as the band moved into Stand Up cut “Smooth Rider.” The song also hasn’t been played since the Dave and Tim Vegas run and in the full band setting, the tune has been missing since 7/18/2009.

The set closed with the new song “Be Yourself” featuring The Lovely Ladies and an extended “Jimi Thing” with Cappy before The Ladies returned for “Granny.”

DMB returns to the stage in Camden, NJ tonight for their second of two shows.
