While the world seemed to be focused on the events in Santa Clara, other bands around the country agreed as Widespread Panic and String Cheese Incident both offered up Dead covers on the night that the band kicked off their 50th anniversary celebration.
At Red Rocks, Widespread Panic covered “Cream Puff War,” which was also played in Santa Clara during their second set. The band also welcomed out percussionist Bill Bass during the encore for “Low Spark.”
In Rothbury, MI, The String Cheese Incident closed out their set at Electric Forest with “Terrapin Station,” which served as the penultimate song to their set.
Umphrey’s McGee also had their eye on the events in Santa Clara, as LD Jefferson Waful tweeted after the show that the tour bus was fixated on the webcast following their show in Kansas City, MO.
