As the Fare Thee Well weekend prepares to kick off in Chicago, Greensky Bluegrass, Keller Williams and The Infamous Stringdusters teamed up last night at the Chicago Theatre to start off the Grateful Dead’s finale. As expected, there were collaborations as well as tributes to the band that will take the stage at Soldier Field tonight.

Keller and The Stringdusters kicked off the night with a Grateful Grass set, working through bluegrass-tinged cuts of “Jack Straw,” “Brown Eyed Woman,” “Feel Like a Stranger” and a mashup of “Cumberland Blues” and “They Love Each Other,” among others.

Greensky hit the stage and nodded to the guitarist who will be joining the core Dead members, with an opening cover of Phish’s “Julius.” Towards the end of their set, the band worked in a cover of “Eyes of the World” and encored with the above performance of “Franklin’s Tower” (after a take on “That’s What Love Will Make You Do”) with Keller and the Dusters.
