Jorma Kaukonen and Jack Casady will come together at Lockn’ to celebrate 50 years of Jefferson Airplane with a slew of special guests. The latest to join the fold is Bill Kreutzmann, who will join the ensemble that features Rachael Price, GE Smith, Larry Campbell, Teresa Williams, Jeff Pehrson and Justin Guip.

Lockn’ promoter Dave Frey told The Daily Beast that he “actively pursued this because the Jefferson 50 is the other 50. The [Grateful] Dead 50 has gotten all the action because for whatever reason they were able to creatively stick it out.”

The idea of adding Grace Slick also came up, although Frey said she is “very happily retired and wishes everybody the best.” Kaukonen added, “Grace doesn’t sing at all anymore so the thought of a ‘reunion’ is really unthinkable, you know?. I think it’s unfortunate. I think Grace is one of the great voices of my generation, but that’s her choice and that’s just the way it is.”

Lockn’ kicks off September 10 in Arrington, VA. Tickets are available here.
