For the first time in five years, Los Lobos has announced a new album, an 11-track effort entitled Gates of Gold. The album is out September 25 via 429 Records.

Staying in line with the band’s wolf-inspired name, the album title was inspired by a National Geographic story about wolves, according to the 429 Records’ website. Gates of Gold puts a fresh spin on the blues-rock that has come to define Los Lobos’ sound, with elements of samba and jazz mixed in for good measure. It’s a driving record, equal parts mellow and rocking, that should fit well into the Los Lobos catalog once it hits shelves.

The band will already be in the midst of a full tour when it stops at New York’s Beacon Theater on September 25 to celebrate the album’s release. Consult the full tour schedule below.
