Don Cheadle’s new Miles Davis biopic Miles Ahead will close out this year’s New York Film Festival. The film, which stars Cheadle as Miles Davis, also marks the actor’s directorial debut (he also co-wrote the screenplay with Steven Baidelman).

Miles Ahead is reportedly set in the late 1970s, when Davis retreated to his Manhattan apartment and became something of a recluse. The film also co-stars Ewan McGregor, as a reporter that manages to get ahold of Davis, and Emayatzy Corinealdi, who plays Davis’ ex-wife Frances Taylor.

The 53rd annual New York Film Festival will take place September 25-October 11.
