Phish busted out “The Connection” for the first time since 2010 (200 shows) last night, marking only the fourth time that the song has been played. The tune appeared during the night’s encore, which also featured a “First Tube” to close things out.

Last night’s show at the Verizon Theatre in Grand Prairie, TX also opened with a “Tube” in honor of notable Phish fan, comedian and Texas native Harris Wittels, who died earlier this year (bassist Mike Gordon also paid tribute to Wittels before Tuesday’s show in Austin.) The first set continue with and “Punch You In The Eye” that moved into “Steam” and then “Poor Heart.” During the “I Didn’t Know” that followed, guitarist Trey Anastasio told the crowd that he was born 20 miles away in Fort Worth, TX, and joked that he never thought he’s be playing with a man in a dress all these year’s later. The back half of the set then wrapped up with “Stealing Time From The Faulty Plan,” “Divided Sky” and “The Squirming Coil.”

An unfinished, 15-minute “Chalk Dust Torture” started off the night’s second frame before segueing into a “Simple” that seamlessly turned into “Silent In The Morning.” “The Line” marked the night’s first Fuego track, while “Birds of a Feather”—complete with a “The Birds” quote—came next. A “Fuego” > “Julius” combo then set up the “Harry Hood” that closed out the second set.
