Widespread Panic debuted their new song “Steven’s Cat” today via Relix. The tune appears on their forthcoming LP Street Dogs, and you can give it a listen here.

Street Dogs is set for release on September 25 via Vanguard Records (pre-orders will be available starting tomorrow at WidespreadPanic.com and iTunes). The group recorded Street Dogs at Echo Mountain Studios in Asheville, NC with longtime friend and producer John Keane. Street Dogs reflects the band’s many styles and moods, offering contemplative moments, rousing southern blues, progressive jazz flavors and other hallmarks of the rock group’s signature sound.

Widespread Panic’s John Bell tells Relix, “‘Steven’s Cat’ was born in the studio, full grown in about a day, had the input of every band member, and left me laughing. The opportunity arose to pay tribute to a favorite rock-and roll influence, do it with humor, and explore new a musical feel. We were playing with old and new all at once—and it happened spontaneously—which, after thirty years together, is a very welcomed gift.”
