Phish treated Tusalcoosa to an exploratory, Type II “Down With Disease” at the start of last night’s second set. The stellar number came after a first set that included a relatively brief “Chalk Dust Torture,” the tour debut of “Train Song” and an exciting “Maze,” as well as a rocking “My Friend, My Friend” that included sound effects from “The Very Long Fuse.”

The scorching “Disease” that opened the second set was left unfinished as its spaced out jam gave way to “Camel Walk” after roughly 20 minutes. Phish kept the segues coming with “Camel Walk” and “Seven Below,” which made their way into an unremarkable “Fuego” that was followed by this summer’s first “2001.” A quick “Harry Hood” preceded the set-closing “Possum” before the band returned for another tour debut, The Beatles’ Sgt. Peppers finale “A Day In The Life.”

Phish will roll through the Ascend Amphitheater in Nashville for their smallest show of the summer tomorrow night.
