Bob Weir, Mickey Hart and Bill Kreutzmann will share the stage this fall. The Grateful Dead members will perform as part of Dead & Company, a new project featuring guitarist John Mayer, longtime Dead-family keyboardist Jeff Chimenti and Allman Brothers Band bassist Oteil Burbridge. The ensemble’s first confirmed show is an appearance at New York’s Madison Square Garden on Halloween. The project was originally promoted as Los Muertos, which translates to “The Dead” in Spanish, but the show was announced in a Village Voice ad under the header Dead & Company.

Weir has been rumored to work with Mayer on a new project for several months. Mayer attended all five Fare Thee Well performances and was often spotted mouthing the words to Dead classics near his girlfriend Katy Perry. Recent Instagram posts show Weir and Mayer rehearsing with Mike Gordon and Steve Kimock, but neither musician appears to be involved in Los Muertos. Phil Lesh will play a sold-out show right outside New York City at Port Chester, NY’s Capitol Theatre on Halloween.

The ensemble is expected to announce additional dates.
