Umphrey’s McGee returned close to home last night as they played a special show at the Ravinia Festival in Highland Park, IL.

Joining the group towards the end of the show was the Chicago Mass Choir, spawning a pair of debut covers for the band as the choir was added to the second-set closing Talking Heads cover “Once in a Lifetime” and the show-closing take on Bill Withers’ classic “Lean on Me” that also featured Jennifer Hartswick on vocals.

The choir would also appear on the ending of “Wife Soup” as well as the first song of the encore, “No Diablo.” In addition, Umphrey’s welcomed out longtime collaborator Michele Hallman to sing on Fleetwood Mac’s “Rhiannon,” marking just the second time Umphrey’s has played the tune in full and the first since 2003.

Umphrey’s returns to the stage tonight at the Meadow Brook Music Festival.
