Umphrey’s McGee crew member Chris Mitchell celebrated his 500th show manning the soundboard for the Chicago rockers, taking over for Kevin Browning who moved to a managerial role. As Brendan Bayliss commented early on, Mitchell wrote the setlist for the evening, which included a slew of heavy hitters in the first set like “In the Kitchen,” “Bad Friday” and “Puppet String,” among others.

During the second-set opening “Higgins,” Umphrey’s dropped into a cover of ELO’s “Showdown,” their first rendition of the tune and first ever cover of ELO. The tune featured Jake Cinninger on vocals with the other members providing harmony.

The rest of the second set proved to be just as noteworthy, as the band stretched out rarity “Believe the Lie” before a creative “Wizard Burial Ground” segment that featured a dark, grungy jam in “Night Nurse” before a standalone “Bridgeless” closed the set. During the encore of “Bright Lights Big City,” the band teased “Soul Food II” in response to “We Want the Umph” chants from the crowd along with a brief “Stairway to Heaven” tease from Cinninger before dropping into the climactic end of “Wizard Burial Ground.”

Umphrey’s hits the stage tonight in Lake Buena Vista, FL.
