Phil Lesh welcomed out special guest Boyd Tinsley of Dave Matthews Band during his Backyard Blowout at Terrapin Crossroads. The violinist sat in for the entirety of the second and third sets on the evening which included takes on “Playing in the Band,” “Tomorrow Never Knows,” “The Wheel,” “St. Stephen,” “The Other One” and more.

This isn’t the first time Tinsley has lent his violin to a Phil & Friends show as he also joined the band at the Capitol Theatre in April of 2014. In the DMB realm, the band has also covered Grateful Dead tunes like “Eyes of the World” and more recently, “Friend of the Devil.”

In related Lesh news, the bassist has also cancelled three shows at the venue due to “unforeseen circumstances.” The Phil & Friends shows on October 2, 5 and 6 will no longer take place. Refunds will be available at the point of purchase.
