In a new interview with Rolling Stone, Dave Matthews offered an update on the next DMB LP, their follow-up to 2012’s Away From the World.

“I go on a lot of tangents, so I’ve been doing some writing, and I certainly could fill the space of several albums with music that I’ve made,” Matthews said. “I haven’t yet fallen in love with the whole thing. I’m in love with parts of it.” He adds that the band will have a new album out “at some point.”

The guitarist referenced a few new songs the band has been playing, saying that he “loves” “Virginia in the Rain.” Speaking on the very first new song, “Black and Bluebird,” Matthews says, “I sort of tied trite love lines together with frustration and things that make my kids go, ‘Wow, that’s awesome!’ Not the song itself, but just the statements.”

DMB will return to the road on October 8 in Abu Dhabi, where they will play their first ever show before embarking on a European tour beginning in Lisbon.
