Dawes announced yesterday that keyboardist Tay Strathain is leaving the band due to “musical differences.” The band made the announcement on Facebook with the following message:

After many great years, due to musical differences, Dawes and Tay Strathairn have come to the difficult decision to part ways. We as a band are deeply grateful for the contributions that Tay has made over the years and we wish him the best.

This is the not the first time Strathairn has parted ways with Dawes. The keyboardist was a founding member of the group and appears on their studio debut, North Hills, but he left the band in late 2009 to focus on his other project at the time, Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros. During his hiatus from Dawes, Alex Casnoff played keyboards with the band, including the 2011 release Nothing Is Wrong. Strathairn rejoined the Dawes in 2011 and has appeared on each of their albums over the past four years.
