Yesterday would have marked Allen Woody’s 60th birthday. The former Allman Brothers bassist and co-founder of Gov’t Mule passed away in August of 2000 at the age of 44, and bandmate Warren Haynes took some time during his show last night in Maine to honor Woody’s legacy.

During the show, which saw Haynes and his “Ashes & Dust” Band dig into new cuts, covers and other material, Haynes paused to dedicate a pair of songs, “Banks of the Deep End” and “It Began to Snow,” to Woody. Haynes’ official Twitter account also noted the dedication, adding a “For Woody” notation to each song.

Haynes returns to the stage October 6 at the Orpheum Theatre in Boston with special guest Justin Townes Earle.
