President and Mrs. Obama will host a celebration of American music by inviting various artists to the East Room of the White House for a special PBS-televised concert held on October 14 and premiering in January.
“A Celebration of American Creativity: In Performance at the White House” will feature appearances by Smokey Robinson, James Taylor, Buddy Guy, Queen Latifah, Keb’ Mo’, Usher, Trombone Shorty, MC Lyte, Audra McDonald, Esperanza Spalding, Brian Stokes Mitchell and Carol Burnett.
The event, which commemorates the 50th anniversary of Lyndon Johnson’s National Foundation on the Arts and the Humanities Act, will premiere on PBS January 8 and stream on both the White House and PBS websites.
