Last night at the Tivoli Theatre in Chattanooga, TN, Warren Haynes dedicated his encore opener, a cover of Steve Earle’s “My Only Friend the Blues,” to his late guitar tech Brian Farmer.

Farmer, who passed away in August of 2014, had worked with an array of bands including Gov’t Mule, The Allman Brothers Band, the Dead and Phil Lesh and Friends. Joining Haynes on “Blues” were Earle’s son, Justin Townes, who is also opening for Haynes for this portion of his Ashes and Dust tour, along with pedal steel player Paul Niehaus.

The previous night at the Warner Theatre in Washington, DC, Haynes and his band were joined by saxophonist Ron Holloway on an encore performance of Little Feat’s “Skin It Back.” Holloway used to play with Little Feat and has guested with Mule and The Allman Brothers in the past. He was also a member of The Warren Haynes Band that toured behind 2011’s Man In Motion.
