Back in March, folk legend Joni Mitchell suffered a brain aneurysm that had her hospitalized but eventually released to recover at home.

Now, fellow folk artist and friend Judy Collins has provided an update on Mitchell’s condition, posting on her Facebook that she has received good news that her friend is walking, talking, painting” and “making good progress.” Collins goes on to explain a previous experience she has had with another friend in a similar situation. I have just heard from a close mutual friend that Joni is walking, talking, painting some, doing much rehab every day, and making good progress—I have another friend who went through something similar-it does take a long time, three years for my friend, who has realy totaly recovered professionally and personally. I will try my best to see our songbird when I am in LA in the coming weeks—
