Dead & Company kicked off their run last night in Albany, NY at the Times Union Center. The tour finds John Mayer teaming with Bob Weir, Bill Kreutzmann and Mickey Hart along with Oteil Burbridge and Jeff Chimenti.

The band stuck to a slew of familiar material last night as they dug into first set cuts like the opening “Playin’ in the Band” as well as “Cold Rain and Snow” which saw Mayer take his first lead vocals of the night. The guitarist previously commented that he and Weir planned to shoulder most of the vocal duties. Mayer would also sing lead in the first set on “He’s Gone” and “Bird Song” before the finale of “The Music Never Stopped.”

The second set kicked off with a pairing of “Lost Sailor” and “Saint of Circumstance” before the group dug into some Grateful Dead classics like “Help on the Way” and “Slipknot” as well as “Franklin’s Tower,” “The Other One” and “Stella Blue.” The night closed the same way the Fare Thee Well run did in Chicago, with “Not Fade Away” giving way to “Touch of Grey.”

The run continues this weekend at Madison Square Garden in New York City.
