moe. celebrated the holiday last night by busting out an epic Star Wars-inspired performance with all the intergalactic trimmings at The Fillmore in Philadelphia, PA.

The band took to the stage decked out in Star Wars costumes, including guitarist Chuck Garvey dressed as C3PO. The tribute kicked off with the first direct quote of the night, the iconic overture from John Williams’ film score. Other Williams tunes brought out during the night also included “Cantina Band” and a second-set opener of the “Imperial March.”

Besides the direct musical quotes, moe. also continued their Halloween tradition by altering some of their original songs with lyrics inspired by the theme of choice. Last night’s offerings included “Senator Palpatine” (an altered “St. Augustine”), “Han Shot First” (“Shoot First”), “Hoth” (“Moth”) and “Yoda.Little” (“Yodelittle”).

Also included in the performance were several first-time covers for the band that stuck to the galactic theme. The debuts included The Byrds’ “Mr. Spaceman,” Frank Zappa’s “Cosmik Debris,” David Bowie’s “Ziggy Stardust,” Weird Al’s “Yoda” (which in turn is an altered version of The Kinks’ “Lola”) and Meco’s “Disco Wars.”
