The String Cheese Incident played their second of three shows last night at Suwannee Hulaween in Live Oak, FL, coming out with three sets including a special Ghoul Train performance featuring several guests.

The first set of the night opened up with “Dudley’s Kitchen” and saw the band run through several originals, including the recently-revived “Xai Xai.”

For the second frame of the evening, the band delivered on their promised “Ghoul Train” tribute to the music of Soul Train. The celebration was hosted by Wu Tang Clan’s GZA and also featured the Antibalas horns, Sheryl Renee and Leonard Julien. The collaborative throwback kicked off with The Commodore’s “Brick House” and ran the gamut of ’70s funk and soul favorites, including Earth, Wind & Fire’s “September,” Rose Royce’s “Car Wash,” Patti LaBelle’s “Lady Marmalade” and a set-closing Sly & the Family Stone run of “I Want To Take You Higher” into “Dance To The Music.”

The third frame saw String Cheese return to the stage by themselves and play a traditional set that included a cover of Bob Marley’s “Exodus” and ended with the band bringing the Antibalas horns back on stage for “Rosie.”

The encore of the night returned to the Ghoul Train theme, as Renee, Julien and the horns came back out for a triumphant run of Stevie Wonder’s “Signed, Sealed, Delivered, I’m Yours” and Sister Sledge’s “We Are Family.”
