Umphrey’s McGee’s Reel to Reel event will kick off the year on January 1, and today the band has released a video previewing the event.

The video features a never-before-released acoustic version of “Plunger” with the band discussing the origins of the Anchor Drops tune after finishing playing. Watch the video below.

Posted on their Facebook, the video is accompanied by a quote about the state of mind that brought about the song:

For us at the time, we thought that everything was over, we thought the band was going to be done. So the first lyric of the song is ‘Gravely now we stare at indecision’ and that’s pretty much summing up how we felt.
