This weekend, New York City will hold its own funeral for late New Orleans musician and composer Allen Toussaint in an appropriate NOLA fashion.

The memorial event will take place in Washington Square Park at noon on Saturday, November 28 and will presumably feature some second line music and procession, as is the New Orleans tradition of honoring the deceased.

This past Friday, New Orleans held their own service for Toussaint, with Preservation Hall Jazz Band leading the way with a short dirge, then livening things up with a second line tune and procession that filled the street. Watch a video of the event below.
