The Doobie Brothers have officially announced that keyboardist Bill Payne will be a part of their touring band for the foreseeable future.

Payne is most known as a co-founder of Little Feat, but has previously toured with The Doobie Brothers and was included on some of their more recent albums. He was also announced as part of the band’s upcoming tour with Journey and Dave Mason.

The keyboardist has been playing with bluegrass veterans Leftover Salmon lately, touring with the band and helping out on this year’s High Country. Leftover Salmon’s Drew Emmitt recently talked to us about the band’s 25th anniversary, mentioning that Payne would be splitting with them to take up with The Doobie Brothers.
