Last night, booking agency Ground Control celebrated their 15th anniversary with a mini-festival at New York’s Webster Hall that featured a performances from artists like Kurt Vile, Deer Tick, Superchunk, Speedy Ortiz and members of Sonic Youth and Parquet Courts.

The night’s celebration included lots of sit ins and covers like Sonic Youth’s Lee Ranaldo playing Joni Mitchell’s “The Circle Game” and Kurt Vile collaborating with his former bandmate Steve Gunn as well as Woods’ Jarvis Taveniere and Sonic Youth’s Kim Gordon on a cover of Velvet Underground’s “Sister Ray.”

Later, Woods opened their set by bringing out Parquet Courts singer Andrew Savage for a cover of Neil Young’s “Barstool Blues” and, later, Young’s “Powderfinger.” Woods closed their performance with a Kurt Vile-assisted cover of Bob Dylan’s “Knocking On Heaven’s Door.”

The Sonic Youth theme continued when Savage brought out Ranaldo for runs of the band’s tunes “Mote” and “Eric’s Trip.”
