Last night at The Wynwood Yard in Miami, FL, ALO headlined the official Pre-Jam Cruise Kickoff Party. Roosevelt Collier and his Trio started off the show, then Collier returned to the stage to help ALO with a few tunes.

After beginning the set with several originals like “Girl I Wanna Lay You Down,” which featured an interlude of Rupert Holmes’ “Escape (The Piña Colada Song),” ALO brought onstage Collier and Amy Christian, and old ALO friend who sings background vocals in the James Brown Band. The ALO guys met Christian through their drummer Dave Brogan in 1996 when the band, then called Django, filled in for Christian as house sitters in Georgia, eventually being introduced to their hero, James Brown himself, who ended up playing ALO on his radio station, helping with the band’s growing popularity in the late ’90s.

The collective first played Traffic’s “Dear Mr. Fantasy” into The Beatles’ “Hey Jude” before Collier remained onstage for a couple ALO originals and the band ended the night by themselves. Listen to the performance and see the setlist below. Both ALO and Collier will both performa on Jam Cruise, which ships out today from Miami.
