The tributes to the late David Bowie continue to pour in, as the music world reacts to the death of the 69-year old after an 18-month battle with cancer.

The latest comes from Arcade Fire’s Win Butler, who called Bowie “one of the band’s earliest supporters and champions.” Butler continued, “I will take to the grave the moments we shared; talking, playing music and collaborating as some of the most profound and memorable moments of my life.”

Bowie and Arcade Fire collaborated numerous times throughout their careers, most recently on the band’s 2013 record Reflektor, where Bowie contributed backing vocals to the title track. Bowie also joined the band on stage in 2005 as a part of the television special Fashion Rocks to play their tune “Wake Up.” They played the same song later on in September of 2005 in Central Park as well.

David Bowie was one of the band’s earliest supporters and champions. He not only created the world that made it possible for our band to exist, he welcomed us into it with grace and warmth. I will take to the grave the moments we shared; talking, playing music and collaborating as some of the most profound and memorable moments of my life. A true artist even in his passing, the world is more bright and mysterious because of him, and we will continue to shout prayers into the atmosphere he created.
