After playing their first ever show in Mexico on Friday night, Phish returned to the stage last night at the Barcelo Maya Palace Deluxe in Rivera Maya for their second of three shows. Once again, the band would play to the theme of the weekend, often referencing water and the surrounding environment.

The show opened with “Camel Walk,” with an appropriate nod to the on-site disco. The ten-song first set included takes on “555,” “Rift” as well as an expanded “Cities” that led into a rare first-set “Light.” “Simple” also took some time off from the second set to make an appearance early on.

Following “Timber,” hundreds of fans decided to jump into the ocean during the appropriate “Wading in the Velvet Sea” which led into a late first set “Reba.” While this version didn’t contain any whistling, Trey Anastasio did quote the tune in the short and sweet set closing “Chalk Dust Torture.”

The eight-song second set was bookended by two large jams in the opening “Golden Age,” which stretched out to 14-minutes as well as the closing “Harry Hood” which featured a sprawling jam in the middle section before the band wrapped up the tune with the familiar finish.

In between those two selections, the quartet mixed in familiar cuts like “Prince Caspian,” “46 Days” and “Julius” as well as newer tunes such as the Page McConnell-led “Halfway to the Moon,” “Joy” and the retrospective “Twenty Years Later.” “Character Zero” held down the encore spot before the group exited.

Phish return to the stage tonight to close out their Mexico run.
