PJ Harvey has announced that her new album, The Hope Six Demolition Project, will be released on April 15 via Vagrant Records. The record will mark her first since 2011’s Let England Shake.

Demolition Project is inspired by Harvey’s recent trips to places like Kosovo, Afghanistan and more. “When I’m writing a song I visualise the entire scene,” she says. “I can see the colours, I can tell the time of day, I can sense the mood, I can see the light changing, the shadows moving, everything in that picture. Gathering information from secondary sources felt too far removed for what I was trying to write about. I wanted to smell the air, feel the soil and meet the people of the countries I was fascinated with.”

The first track off the album, “The Wheel,” was premiered today on BBC 6 Music. Watch a trailer for the project, featuring that song and “The Community of Hope,” below, along with the complete tracklist for the album.
