moe. have announced that they “do not have any plans for moe.down in 2016.” This is the second summer in a row that the group has decided to skip their annual festival. moe. hosted their first moe.down over Labor Day weekend in 2000 and the multi-band gathering quickly grew into one of the season’s staple events.

A statement from the band reads:

We appreciate so many fans reaching out to tell us how much they miss moe.down music festival, and we know there have been many questions on whether or not we have plans to bring it back this year. At present, we do not have any plans for moe.down 2016. The moe.down discussion on bringing it back in the future is very much alive between all those involved. In the meantime, we will be announcing a few other special summer shows in addition to Red Rocks Park and Amphitheatre – we hope to see you there!

“It’s just takes a lot to keep that festival going, especially during the last few years,” bassist Rob Derhak told Relix last year. “The only way I could put it is that we needed a little time off. We need to sort of reorganize the event and kind of assess what we want it to really be and what we need to do to make it be that way. It goes along with the whole feeling that we need to rein it in a little bit, and we need break.”

Several other jam and roots festivals have decided to take a hiatus in 2016, including Gathering of the Vibes, Wakarusa and Clearwater.
