Umphrey’s McGee returned to the Palace Theatre in Albany, NY last night as their winter tour continued. Once again, the band collaborated with opening act TAUK and paid homage to Bob Marley during the second set, whose birthday was yesterday.

For starters, the band peppered their first set with some of the larger arrangements in the catalog including an opening pairing of “JaJunk” and “Mulche’s Odyssey.” The group took a brief break for a lighter segment of “Pequod” and “Gone for Good” before ending the set with a flourish, delivering both versions of “Cemetery Walk” and a “Ringo” that brought “JaJunk” to a close.

After the second set-opening “Attachments,” the group welcomed out TAUK’s Isaac Teel to sit in on percussion as well as Alric Carter, who joined Joel Cummins on keys. The two combined to augment a lengthy “Bad Friday,” with Teel also adding vocals to the tune.

The night wrapped up with a nod to Bob Marley’s birthday with the “Life During Exodus” mashup, that takes Marley’s “Exodus” and combines it with Talking Heads’ “Life During Wartime.” A pair of duos in “Resolution” and “Remind Me” as well as “Triple Wide” and “Hajimemashite” brought the night to a close.
