Bruce Springsteen has announced that his autobiography, titled Born To Run, will be released this year on September 27 via Simon & Schuster.

According to a press release, the Boss has been writing the book for seven years, starting just after the E Street Band’s performance at the Super Bowl halftime show in 2009. The autobiography will take the reader through Springsteen’s youth in New Jersey and the beginnings of his career, articulating the “poetry, danger, and darkness” that inspired the creation of his classic songs and his legendary career.

“Writing about yourself is a funny business,” Springsteen writes. “But in a project like this, the writer has made one promise, to show the reader his mind. In these pages, I’ve tried to do this.”
