On Friday, Bob Weir was joined at his Sweetwater Music Hall in Mill Valley, CA, for a benefit show for the Ring Mountain Day School. The concert saw a variety of lineups, including Weir playing solo, with Sammy Hagar and with an 8th grade music class.

Weir kicked off the event with a couple of solo tunes before welcoming out Ring Mountain’s music class and Jay Lane for “Monkey and the Engineer.” After solo runs of “Peggy-O” and “Friend of the Devil,” Weir welcomed out the main band for the evening, featuring Lane, Sammy Hagar, Steve Kimock and Rob Wasserman. The group played through two Hagar songs and ended the first portion of the night with “Loose Lucy.”

After set break, Weir came back on with the same group, sans Hagar, and started out by mentioning the album on which he’s currently working before playing two songs from it, “Gonesville” and “Dig A Hole.” “Easy Answers” then led into a rap collaboration with M.C. Radio Active. The set was closed out with “Days Between” and “Jack Straw,” both of which can be viewed below thanks to Deadheadland.

The fundraiser event was to benefit Ring Mountain School, helping students who would otherwise not be able to afford tuition attend the school. Weir’s youngest daughter is currently attending the school, and his oldest is a former student.
