Last night, Phish drummer Jon Fishman played a surprise show at Bayside Bowl in Portland, ME, announcing the performance at 8pm and playing a few hours later. Fishman joined local Portland band Dominic & The Lucid for the show.

Fishman wore a shirt promoting his favorite politician and presidential candidate Bernie Sanders, and the drummer used the opportunity to speak at the packed bowling alley about Sanders and urge people to vote in Maine’s Democratic caucuses on Sunday.

The performance itself was a mix of originals from the band along with several covers, including Talking Heads’ “Burning Down the House,” John Lennon’s “Instant Karma,” Steve Winwood’s “Gimme Some Lovin’”, Marvin Gaye’s “Don’t Do It,” Velvet Underground’s “Rock and Roll” and David Bowie’s “Sound and Vision.” Watch a clip from Instagram below.
