Chip Hooper, Paradigm Talent Agency’s head of music, passed away yesterday after a four-year battle with brain cancer, according to Pollstar.

Hooper’s own clients include, among many others, Dave Matthews Band, Phish and countless others. In his role as the Worldwide Head of Music at Paradigm, he oversaw more than 40 agents and 700+ artists (such as Coldplay, The National, Ed Sheeran, Toby Keith, the Lumineers, Sturgill Simpson, fun. and Aerosmith). Hooper was named Pollstar’s Bobby Brooks Agent of the Year eight times, more than anyone else.

Hooper’s final public appearance came most notably at his son Max’s final home game for the Oakland University’s basketball team on February 27. Hooper appeared at Max’s senior night game in a 108-97 win over Detroit Mercy. Max is the Horizon League Sixth Man of the Year and sixth nationally in made three-pointers.

During his recent show at the Fox Theater in Oakland, an emotional Trey Anastasio dedicated “Show of Life” to Hooper after recounting stories about working with Hooper over the years. Watch below.
