Today, the full list of Record Store Day releases was announced, including around 300 special rereleases, compilations and new music from artists including the Grateful Dead, David Bowie, Bob Dylan, Phish, Metallica, Patti Smith, Madonna and many more.

At a release day press conference in New York’s Electric Lady Studios, first opened by Jimi Hendrix, Record Store Day co-producer Michael Kurtz spoke of the smaller number of releases this year, noting that many record stores asked for the number to be reduced due the popularity of the event.

Some of those releases include three from Bowie, including a picture disc of The Man Who Sold the World featuring rare German album artwork, Dylan’s Melancholy Mood 7” that was previously only available in Japan, the Grateful Dead’s 4-LP Capitol Theatre, Passaic NJ 4/25/77, The Doors’ Live at the Aquarius: The First Performance, Madonna’s rereleased Like a Virgin and Other Hits, Patti Smith Band’s live recording of Horses at Electric Lady Studios, Phish’s rereleased Hoist, a new album from guitarist John Frusciante called Foregrow, an alternate Clouds Taste Metallic album from the Flaming Lips called Lightening Strikes the Postman, a Mumford & Sons collaboration with Senegal’s Baaba Maal and the Very Best entitled “There Will Be Time,” a rare demo of the Ramones’ “Judy Is a Punk” and a 10” release from ALO featuring new studio and live tracks, among many others.

At the Electric Lady event, Kurtz also touched on last year’s terrorist attacks in Paris and that part of this year’s Record Store Day was dedicated to those affected by the attacks and the events at the Bataclan music venue in particular. RSD Ambassadors Metallica are releasing an album of their 2003 performance at the venue to raise money for charity, and Kurtz noted RSD’s relationship with Disquaire Day, the French equivalent of RSD, which will be highlighted by several releases like Twenty One Pilot’s Double-Sided album.

Record Store Day 2016 is on April 16. See the full list of special RSD releases here.
