As the Chicago Cubs seek their first World Series title since 1908, a special new collaborative musical project will take to the road.

The Sons of Bartman will be led by Pearl Jam’s Eddie Vedder, who will front a group that includes guitarists Brendan Bayliss and Tom Morello, keyboardist Joel Cummins, Smashing Pumpkins drummer Jimmy Chamberlin and Chicago bassist Peter Cetera. In a particularly cheeky manner, the band has confirmed dates well into October.

When scolded that invoking Steve Bartman’s name will bring on a curse akin to an actor saying “Macbeth” inside a theatre rather than referring to it as “the Scottish play,” Bayliss was dumbfounded. “Bartman? I thought this was a South Park tribute band. Sons of Cartman. Eddie has been singing ‘All the Way’ in rehearsal but I thought that line about ‘heroes in blue’ was a tribute to Officer Barbrady.”
