Over the weekend, Lettuce hosted their inaugural Fool’s Paradise mini-festival in St. Augustine, FL, with two days of sit ins and supergroups featuring GRiZ, Chris Robinson, Vulfpeck, The Nth Power, Break Science, Goldfish and more.

Day one featured the first of two sets from Lettuce, who brought up Grant Kwiecinski, a.k.a. GRiZ, to the stage near the end of the performance. Late-night duties were handled by Break Science followed by Vulfpeck, who played a set featuring sit ins by Shady Horns Ryan Zoidis and Benny Bloom, along with Lettuce bandmates Eric Krasno and Adam Deitch, plus Snarky Puppy’s Cory Henry.

Day two kept the sit ins coming with Trey Anastasio Band’s Natalie Cressman joining Brass Tracks before Chris Robinson’s Soul Revue took to the stage. The supergroup brought together Robinson, his CRB bandmate Neal Casal, George Porter Jr., Dumpstaphunk’s Ivan Neville, Nth Power’s Nikki Glaspie, Henry, Krasno and the Shady Horns for a set that featured classics tunes like Allen Toussaint’s “Sneakin’ Sally Through the Alley,” Joe Cocker’s “Space Captain,” Otis Redding’s “Fa Fa Fa Fa Fa (Sad Song),” Steppenwolf’s “Magic Carpet Ride,” and the Grateful Dead’s “Turn On Your Lovelight.”

The two-day affair was closed out with a late-night superjam dubbed Fools of Funk that featured Lettuce’s Adam “Shmeeans” Smirnoff, Deitch, Henry, Nigel Hall, percussionist Weedie Braimah and the Shady Horns.
