Yesterday, Soulive and Karl Denson’s Tiny Universe drummer Alan Evans announced he was undertaking a new project in the form of his Vintage League Music record label, which he says will focus on EP releases.

Evans has also revealed the first product of the label, an all-in-the-family EP collaboration with his brother and Soulive bandmate Neal Evans and the Burbridge brothers, Oteil of Dead & Company and Kofi of Tedeschi Trucks Band. “The four of us have been talking about doing this for almost 20 years and I can’t tell you how much fun we are having in here,” Alan wrote in his announcement.

The appropriately titled Brothers EP was recorded this week at the new Iron Wax Studios, which Alan opened in conjunction with the new label. The drummer has been providing updates throughout the recording sessions via his Facebook page, and had this to say about the experience:

That was amazing!!! Hands down, two of the best days I’ve ever spent in the studio. Neal, Kofi, Oteil and myself had such an amazing time recording and hanging out. It all definitely came out in the music which I can’t wait for you to hear!!
