Assembly Of Dust is about to drop a new live album, Tales From The Oregon Trail, due May 3. It is now streaming in full via SoundCloud. Today we are premiering the exclusive video of “Filter” above.

Each track was penned by AOD lead Reid Genauer and recorded live in Portland, Oregon, fusing the jamband’s classic Americana vibe with a “West Coast improvisational spirit.” Mark Karan, the lead guitarist for Bob Weir’s Ratdog, is a featured guest.

“Playing live for as long as I have, I’ve become comfortable knowing that that the first idea I have about how a song should sound will invariably change significantly before the fully formed vision for the song actually arrives,” Genauer tells Relix.

“In some ways the song tells the band what it wants to be and the only way to really know that is to play it live and repeatedly,” he says. “Sure, there becomes a performance norm, but the song is never actually done. It’s like a painting that just keeps on morphing. That’s the beauty of performing onstage to audiences that respect that process; for many of them, that’s exactly why they come to see live music: to be a part of that process.”
