Umphrey’s McGee marked their return to New Orleans with a stop at the Joy Theater last night as the city readies for Jazz Fest. The band got in the New Orleans spirit by adding a horn section in the form of The Shady Horns (Eric Bloom and Ryan Zoidis) during various sections of the show.

The first collaboration came late in the first set as the group busted out “Headphones and Snowcones” for the first time since July 3, 2013 with Bloom and Zoidis. The tune led into “Booth Love,” a popular pick for horn players with Umphrey’s.

Bloom and Zoidis would also add on tunes like “Example 1,” “Women Wine and Song” and the finale of “Bright Lights, Big City.”

Next up for Umphrey’s is a slot at this weekend’s Wanee Music Festival.
