Marco Benevento continued his run through the Northeast over the weekend with a couple of shows that featured special guests and a tribute to the late legend David Bowie.

Benevento started off the weekend with a Friday performance at the BSP Lounge in Kingston, NY, not far from his current residence in Woodstock. Fellow upstater Aaron Maxwell, who plays guitar with God Street Wine, joined Benevento for two songs, “The Real Morning Party” and “At The Show.” The two musicians met through Benevento’s daughter’s Woodstock school, where Maxwell teaches.

The following night, Benevento returned to New York with a show at Brooklyn’s Music Hall of Williamsburg. For the encore, Benevento brought out harpist Mikaela Davis and violinist Katie Jacoby for a run of Bowie’s “Heroes” that built to a jam and segued into “Let’s Spend the Night Together.” Watch a video clip of the encore above. Benevento recently told Jambands.com about the time he received his diploma from Bowie and later almost met him through his FedEx guy. The keyboardist will also lead a Bowie tribute at this year’s Mountain Jam.

Bassist Karina Rykman filled in for Benevento’s regular bassist Dave Dreiwitz throughout the weekend. Dreiwitz was busy playing New York’s Terminal 5 with Ween during their three-night run at the venue.

Next up for Benevento is a show on April 23 at the Blue Nile in New Orleans for the city’s Jazz and Heritage Festival.
