On June 4, Going Furthur, the documentary about Ken Kesey’s legendary bus tour with his Merry Pranksters in the ’60s, will premiere as part of the San Francisco DocFest.

Going Furthur documents last year’s 50th anniversary tour that the Furthur bus took to honor the first trip taken by Kesey and his group. The anniversary tour was headed up by Kesey’s son Zane and spanned “over 15,000 miles in 75 days, riding into music festivals, community events, tribal gatherings and national landmarks.”

According to the documentary’s website, “Going Furthur will explore the roots of a culture birthed in the early sixties, and how the mission of those first few idealists have influenced the counterculture of today. Inspired by Furthur as a beacon of true American freedom, this will be an on-the-ground account of the massive potential we have in this generation to be the change we wish to see in the world.”

Going Furthur will also have its East Coast premiere at Bethel Woods, NY’s Mysteryland on June 11–13 and will also be screened at the Maui Film Festival on June 15–19.
