Activist, entertainer and legendary music fan Wavy Gravy, aka Hugh Romney, will celebrate his 80th birthday on May 15, and the second of two birthday celebrations has been set for June 11 at Pennsylvania’s Ardmore Music Hall.

The concert, which will benefit the Grateful Dead-aligned Rex Foundation, has been dubbed “Unlimited Devotion” and will feature performances from guitarist John Kadlecik along with The Terrapin All-Stars featuring Grahame Lesh, with special guests to be announced. The Ardmore event will come after this month’s celebration of Wavy Gravy’s 80th, which will take place on May 22 in Rohnert Park, CA, and will feature Steve Earle, New Riders of the Purple Sage, John Popper and more. That event will benefit Romney’s Seva Foundation.

Wavy Gravy recently talked with Rolling Stone about his foundation, which helps to promote eye care and blindness prevention, along with what it feels like to turn 80. On being asked what’s left on his bucket list, he responds:

“Well, I’d like to see more and more blind people not bump into shit. Ken Kesey said to me, ‘Always put your good where it will do the most.’ I’ve underlined that one in my heart, in my mind and everything in between.”
